Earth Sciences Systems Building

The Earth Sciences Systems Building located along Main Mall on the UBC Campus replaces the existing Earth Sciences building with a state of the art building designed by Busby Perkins + Will. The overriding design intent is to provide a facility that fosters the interaction between students from within the faculties of Earth, Atmospheric, and Ocean Sciences and throughout the campus. Exterior spaces have been designed to provide opportunities for cross campus circulation, outdoor learning, and social interaction. Sustainability will be visibly expressed through use of green roofs, and stormwater management techniques. We are working with a focus group to develop a geological time line as an educational walk connecting the ESSB with the Biodiversity Research and Museum buildings across Main Mall.
